The Tomahawk is a Viper V-10 engine from a 500 horsepower engine with four wheels underneath. The engine breathes through twin throttle bodies mounted on the right (the two round things on the front tires are). While the Tomahawk is the same number of tires on a car, maintains the shape of the motion in the opposite direction.
Chrysler sold nine replicas through Neiman Marcus for $ 555,000 each. The motors can be driven on public roads. A spokesman told Reuters they were meant as rolling sculptures, probably to avoid legal liability. He headed - and not just (legally) on public roads.
The machine uses rear-wheel drive monocoque construction, engine is a stressed member. The body is made of cast aluminum.
The Tomahawk concept is an impressive sound machine, saw and started revved. Clouds of blue smoke vied for attention with the throaty roar of the powerful V-10, and hitting the gas visibly opened the throttle body double blade opposite the lighthouse, where it would be normal. Though deeper and more rumbling than most motorcycles, which do not appear to be higher in general - only deeper, without strident connotation.
Wolfgang Bernhard, Chrysler's first mate at the time, reportedly enthusiastic about the project so that hundreds were designed to be built on less than $ 200,000 each (probably in equilibrium below). They reportedly cost Chrysler over $ 100,000 for the construction (the work is outsourced), not including engineering costs.
The Dodge Tomahawk can reach 60 km / h in about 2.5 seconds and reaches a maximum theoretical speed of 400 mph. Each pair of wheels is separated by a few inches and each wheel has independent suspension. Bernhard said four wheels were necessary to handle the power.
The Tomahawk remains on display at the show car - beyond the reach of the general public.
